Is Meat The Cause of your B.O?

    February 25, 2021

Onion pits? Or Meat sweats? Hi my name Melissa, and sometimes I have armpit BO that would make angels cry. I’m just kidding, it’s not that bad lol. Two years ago I was taking a plant-based nutrition course as a part of my master’s program in Functional Medicine. I had given up all animal proteins

    September 2, 2020February 4, 2021

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a bacteria that colonizes the stomach lining. It is found in the majority of cases – over 90% of duodenal ulcer patients and 70% of gastric ulcer patients infected. The prevalence of H. pylori infection varies from 20 to 50% in industrialized countries to over 80% in developing countries. The infection

Fear of Making Mistakes & Trying To Be “Perfect” Is Harmful: Kids who show sensitivity to making mistakes or doing things “wrong” in adolescence, may have a higher risk for internalizing disorders (such as anxiety and depression) in adulthood. During infancy, temperament serves as the foundation of later personality. One specific type of temperament, called

    March 25, 2020February 4, 2021

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) The coronavirus is fast-spreading, there are already a handful of patients with it at hospitals in Pembroke Pines and Fort Lauderdale, FL. Like other flu viruses, this can be a potentially fatal infection for those who are immunocompromised, children, elderly, smokers, etc. In my opinion, our best defenses are isolating ourselves from

Our body odor is like our personal scent, it is influenced by genetics, hormones, Diet, stress, caffeine consumption etc.
🧅
Studies have shown that the proportion of fat in red meat can be what causes more pungent body odor. (The studies did not test chicken or fish).
🥩
Our body scent is also what attracts us to people or it can repel us (interesting stuff!). On a primal level we are attracted to those who differ from us because of the gene diversity creating a greater chance of more viable offsprings.
😍
Women were found to be attracted to the scent of men’s t-shirts who have the most differing MHC genes. The MHC genes have to do with the resiliency of the immune system. Offsprings with the greatest chance of survival.
🧅
And men found the scent of women’s shirts most attractive when they were at the point of ovulation during their cycle.

Among stroke survivors, green tea consumption was Among stroke survivors, green tea consumption was inversely associated with all-cause mortality for those who drank: one to six cups/week, one to two cups/day, three to four cups/day, five to six cups/day, and at least seven cups/day, compared with nondrinkers. Heart attack survivors had a similar inverse association.
🤩
I think if I drink 3 to 4 cups or more of green tea per day I wouldn’t be able to sleep😂 ill stick with my one daily! #greentea #heartattack #stroke #strokesurvivor #thehealthymelissa
Since 2020 I have spoken to many people who have c Since 2020 I have spoken to many people who have come down with COVID-19 or know someone who has it. It seems that everyone has a different experience with it. I’ve spoken to parents of infants who have been diagnosed with it all the way to those in their 70s. I have come to see that the virus exacerbates what may already be there, kind of like amplifying underlying inflammation or imbalances.
🔅
I came across this study that put the pieces together a bit more clearly. On January 31, 2021, the British Medical Journal found people with lesser amounts of specific probiotic bacteria species in their gut had more severe symptoms of COVID.
🫁
The gut microbiome was significantly altered in patients with COVID-19 when compared with non-COVID 19 people, regardless if they were on medication or not.
🧠
Certain species of bacteria have anti-inflammatory effects on the immune system. Since COVID-19 generates a boatload of inflammation, having lesser amounts of anti-inflammatory bacteria would probably make someone’s symptoms a lot worse.
🫀
The study stated “the gut microbiome is involved in the magnitude of COVID-19 severity.
🫁
Essentially these bacteria thrive on FIBER to grow and create anti-inflammatory short chain fatty acids. Click the link in bio to read more & discover what types of fiber are best to feed these beneficial bacteria. [theheathymelissa.com/covidseverity]
🙏🏼
Last year @organic_olivia was discussing her feeling that there was a bacterial component to COVID - she ended up being correct as the studies came out! This study also furthers the crucial role of the microbiome in disease severity of COVID.
🧠
We can see on the GI Maps stool test if someone is low in these bacteria & other anti inflammatory bacteria as well.

The 3 core blessings of life: (1) To be born with The 3 core blessings of life:

(1) To be born with a human nervous system -
which is the nervous system capable of experiencing the infinite, of knowing pure consciousness.

(2) To have a burning longing for liberation -
the knowingness that there must be more, that I must be more, that this apparent world is not the deepest story, not the Truth, that I am ready to wake up, to come back home.

(3) To find that teacher, that true knowledge, that can effortlessly guide me back home.

To have all 3 of these in one lifetime must be the result of tens of thousands of well-lived lives.

To have all 3 of these, and then not adamantly pursue and obtain enlightenment, is a great mistake, a great waste, a blowing of an opportunity that is rare and precious beyond words. 🫀❤️🧠 #Thehealthymelissa
Tag someone who gets canker sores often👇🏽The Tag someone who gets canker sores often👇🏽The cause of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (Canker Sores) is linked to changes in innate and adaptive immunity associated with abnormal growth of oral microbial flora
.
When I was a kid I used to get these all the time. I also constantly had tonsil stones and ear aches around the same time.
.
Probiotics can influence the immune responses by underplaying virulent microorganisms supporting the maintenance of a healthy microflora. 👉🏼The authors concluded that probiotics are promising for the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis.👈🏼Future studies will provide more evidence to support the optimal selection and dose of probiotics.
.
The oral microbiome is where it all starts! Any dental issues, gum inflammation, wisdom teeth removed that still get inflamed 10 years later, or any holes in the teeth, posts, can be sources of exposure to bacteria which stimulate the immune system.
.
The journal of Advances in Dermatology and Allergology, 2019 found those with recurrent canker sores ALSO had hypertension, allergies and anemia.
.
The journal of Oral Diseases, 2016 had the first reported study that found those with recurrent canker sores had subclinical atherosclerosis. They also had hypertension and elevated triglycerides. One of the reasons elevated triglycerides can occur is when there are stress hormones being secreted. These mobilize stored energy from the liver and throw it into the bloodstream which raise the blood sugar. Infections can do this because they are stressor to the body.
.
This is another great demonstration of the connection between the microbiome and heart health.
.
If you’re dealing with a heart issues that nobody can figure out, you should see a biological dentist who can asses your mouth/teeth/gums for underlying infection. If all is clear then you should do a GI Maps stool test to assess your gut for underlying infection.

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that “In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” - Albert Camus
🙏🏼
As 2020 comes to a close, what lessons have you learned? What have you discovered about yourself? This has been a year of transformation, pain, anxiety, growth, blossoming, loss, gains, and everything in between for so many of us.
🙏🏼
What would life be without struggle? Without pain? These are a few of life’s greatest teachers which show us the depths of what we are capable of. Of what we can push through. The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a persons heart.
🙏🏼
I am sending everyone a big loving hug - and to remind you that...you should be proud of yourself. Everything you’ve done this year, everything that’s massively changed this year and you’re still here, persevering through it all!
🙏🏼
With every set back there is an opportunity to rise up! I hope the colors of 2021 are those that we all cherish and flourish in ~ 🌈
Low Bilirubin is an indicator of low Glutathione l Low Bilirubin is an indicator of low Glutathione levels
 .
If you look at any lab report reference range, there is no cut off for what low bilirubin is. It just says 0.0 – 1.2, which is wrong. Studies have found that bilirubin <0.5 indicates low antioxidant status. More so, low glutathione. This is because bilirubin acts as an antioxidant and protects the bodies lipids/fats from oxidation.
.
Lipid peroxidation causes damage to your tissues, ages your organs and skin faster, and is a crucial step in the development of several diseases. Some of these diseases are: Parkinson’s disease, Irritable Bowel Disease, Atherosclerosis, Asthma, Kidney damage, Preeclamsia, Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Low bilirubin is considered a risk factor of coronary artery disease (CAD), and may prove to be a significant marker for evaluation of the general antioxidant status of a person.
.
Interestingly, in 2018 Scientific Reports found low bilirubin was predictive of Deep White Matter Lesions in the brain in “healthy” subjects. Is it any surprise that lipid peroxides would be such a cause of disease in various parts of the body?
.
Foods that contain fats are susceptible to oxidation, but especially foods that are dehydrated, cooked at high temperatures, fried foods in frying oils/reused oils, cooked & uncured meats. But the worst cause of lipid peroxidation and depletion of antioxidants/glutathione in the liver & body is…..alcohol.
.
Fruits & Veggies contain antioxidants which protect our bodies from rapid deterioration and aging. Liposomal glutathione and eating glutathione forming foods are crucial to detoxifying the liver, lowering lipid peroxidation, and can keep a healthy amount of bilirubin being produced.
